Today I am going to review one of the very famous books in the history of humanity: ART OF WAR by SUN TZU. It is a very old Chinese book of military strategy and tactics. You might be asking yourself: why would someone read this kind of book🤔?? Isn’t it boring!!😕To my surprise I’ve found the book very intriguing. Yes.. it is all about war principles but the surprising thing is that these concepts can be applied in other different disciplines such as business, sport and politics.
Reading the book I've came to understand why so much people are obsessed with football. (in the book he explains stuff about defensive and offensive tactics, which i related to football). Like war, football is a game of strategies and tactics. So is life. In this life either we are at peace or we are fighting. Fighting is even the dominant part in our life. We are most of the time hustling, struggling, wrestling💪🏽… I mean war is the normal state of life. When i started to Write this review, I wanted to relate war principles in the book to our daily life but then I thought it will be more accurate if I just share some of my favorite quotes because people interpret it differently according to their own battles. so I will let you understand them from your perspective of view. Here are my top 10 best quotes from the book "Art of war": 1.If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. 2.whoever is first in the field and waits for the coming of the enemy will be fresh for the fight and the second to arrive will be exhausted. 3.In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity. 4.The greatest victory is that which requires no battle. 5. Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt. 6.Let your speed be that of the wind and your compactness that of the forest 7.All men can see the tactics whereby I concur but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved 8.Clever fighter is not one who only wins but excel in winning with ease. 9.He will win who knows how to handle both superior and Inferior forces. 10.It is easy to love your friend, but sometimes the hardest lesson to learn is to love your enemy. This book is full of so much wisdom, I learned from it to think strategically and to always have a plan. I also realized the importance of knowing oneself, as it is written in the book knowing others is a strength but knowing yourself is power. ART OF WAR is a very short but concise read. It requires time to digest and understand. I highly recommend it to anyone who want to deepen his/her knowledge in building strategies and learn different tactics to use in business, leadership or self-improvement. See you next Monday🥰.
